1 June 2018 Mario Cordoni leads the way again in FP2 at Paul Ricard, Klaus Dieter Frers dominates in Iron Cup

Double Monza winner Mario Cordoni (#70 Ferrari 488 GT3) topped the session once again in practice two, with his rivals closing the gap as they look to dethrone the AF Corse driver at Circuit Paul Ricard. Klaus Dieter Frers (#3 Artega Rennsport Ferrari 488 GT3) set the pace in the Iron Cup and further impressed after going seventh fastest of the 21 Blancpain GT Sports Club runners.

Karim Ojjeh (#2 Boutsen Ginion BMW M6 GT3) was best of the rest, with his 2:06.319 effort in the final moments less than three-hundredths down on Mario Cordoni’s time. This dropped Christian Hook to third, with the German continuing to show strong pace in the #33 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari 488 GT3.

First of the non-Titanium Cup runners was Patrick Van Glabeke (#488 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3), who improved late in the session to go fourth ahead of Claude-Yves Gosselin (#4 Lamborghini Gallardo Extenso R-EX), making it two Boutsen Ginion cars in the top five.

Having made a promising start to the Le Castellet weekend, Luigi Lucchini (#7 BMS Scuderia Italia SRL Ferrari 458 GT3) was once again fighting amongst the front-runners, ultimately placing sixth overall.

In the Iron Cup class, Klaus Dieter Frers once again set the pace, his time of 2:07.996 was enough to place him seventh overall, as he looks to leapfrog rival Stephen Earle in the standings. The #111 Kessel Racing (488 GT3) driver was third in class, with Louis-Philippe Soenen (#50 AF Corse 488 GT3) slotting in between in the second half of the session.

Friday will conclude with a 20-minute qualifying session, with the drivers looking for the best possible starting position ahead of tomorrow’s races. Follow all of the action from qualifying on the Blancpain GT Sports Club website, as well as via Facebook and Twitter.
